The late David Crawford took a great interest in the Junior Blues and the School of Excellence.

Linfield supporters were greatly shocked by the sudden news of his sad passing.

The Junior Blues will pay tribute to the late Chairman by renaming their annual Player of the Year award the Junior Blues Player of the Year award for the David Crawford trophy.

This tribute has met with the approval of David's brother Sam and the Management Committee of Linfield FC.

The tribute will be retrospective and date back to the origins of the award.

A board is to be erected in the Umbro Lounge which will list all previous and future recipients of the David Crawford trophy. The board will be similar to that seen in secondary schools with regard to Head Boys or Girls.

At present the holder of the David Crawford trophy is William Murphy.

The Junior Blues have also agreed to make their charity donation to the Chest Heart & Stroke Association which was the charity nominated by the Crawford family at the time of David's funeral.
