Milo Corcoran, Chairman of the Setanta Sports Cup 2007 Organising Committee says
"We are continuing with our very successful cross community exchanges with the children and we hope that all clubs involved support this worthy initiative. The children of Linfield will be the first to make the journey to Drogheda on February 26 and I have no doubt that everyone concerned is looking forward to their trip".
Cross Community exchange programme -- Taken from the Media guide
The inaugural Setanta Sports Cup tournament not only revived the great tradition of North / South competition but it also provided for the integration of soccer communities on both sides of the border. The Football Association of Ireland and the Irish Football Association are anxious to build on the cross border community and sporting relations established two years ago.
The FAI and IFA believe that the tournament demonstrates the potential of soccer to bring diverse communities together. The success of cross community exchanges over the past two years and the support received has encouraged all concerned to continue to work these relations. All clubs involved have given their full cooperation and support to this venture.
The programme will commence with the holders Drogheda United hosting young supporters of the 2005 winners Linfield on the opening night of the tournament on February 26. The Football Association of Ireland will provide the transport and complimentary tickets for the fixture for those participating.
