£998 raised so far

Around 50 Junior Blues members and 30 adults took part in a sponsored walk from Windsor Park to Ballyskeagh before Saturday's Irish League game between Lisburn Distillery and Linfield.

The group set off at 12 noon and via Lisburn Rd, Balmoral Ave, Harbeton Park and the Upper Malone Rd completed the six mile walk in around 2 hours.

The weather conditions were absolutely perfect - dry and neither too warm nor too cold.

The walkers were delighted to receive encouragement from David Jeffrey and Linfield players as they passed by in their cars.

Lisburn Distillery kindly agreed to let the walkers finish off with a circuit of the Ballyskeagh pitch. The Junior Blues were warmly applauded by the Linfield fans as they went round the pitch.

The Junior Blues are grateful to the Cavehill and City of Belfast LSCs who transported walkers back to Windsor Park after the match. The Junior Blues are also grateful to several carowners who followed the walkers closely in their cars in case anyone started to feel too tired.

With just under half of the participants having so far returned their sponsorship forms the terrific sum of £998 has been raised.

Thanks to everyone who has supported this fundraising and sponsor forms and any further donations can be forwarded to Andy Conn at the Portadown game on Easter Tuesday or at any subsequent game.

Overall, the walk was a great success, good fun, good exercise and it was even featured on BBC's Season Ticket programme.
