Jim Griffin, the parent of Junior Blues members Chelsea and James Griffin, sets off on Saturday, 16 October on a trek across the Sahara Desert, in aid of the charity, Action Medical Research.
Jim raised over £2200 in sponsorship to take part in the trek from Mhamid ti Iriki in the Sahara. It is not his first such expedition as in 2002, the intrepid traveller undertook a trek in Peru walking the Inca trail to Machu Picchu and taking in part of the Amazon jungle.
Jim flies from Heathrow to Casablanca and then to Ouarazata. From there he's transported in an open topped Land Rover into the desert before having to walk the return leg of the journey. He flies back to Heathrow on 24 October and hopes to see his many friends at Windsor Park soon after then.
Linfield supporters wanting to make a donation to this worthy cause, can do so by contacting Andy Conn who will ensure that all donations are passed on to Jim.
