Latest News from the Junior Blues - 12 July 2004

The Junior Blues will be displaying their "No to foul or offensive language banner" before Wednesday's Champions League Qualifying tie with HJK Helsinki.

The Association of Linfield LSC's have very kindly decided to continue their sponsorship of the Junior Blues for a further season, by donating footballs to mascots before competitive Linfield games at Windsor Park.

A new Baby Blues section of the Junior Blues is being launched where for a £5 membership fee, the very youngest Linfield supporters can receive a membership certificate and have their photo displayed in the Linfield programme. Give your child the best possible start in life.

New birthday cards have been obtained for the Junior Blues. The colour front cover is a photo of all the Junior Blues who took part in the sponsor day at Windsor Park on March 13, before the Lisburn Distillery game. The Junior Blues raised a fantastic £1705 and the cards will be signed by the Linfield squad and posted to each Junior Blues member before their birthday.

Tickets for Under 16's to attend the Windsor Park Milk Cup clash between Brazil and Israel on July 17 are available from Andy Conn.

At Open Day on Saturday 31 July, a team photo of the Junior Blues will be taken with the Irish League and Co. Antrim Shield trophies won last season. Further details with regard to precise times will be provided in due course.

Also on Open Day, samples of polo shirts, sweat shirts, fleeces and coats (all with the Junior Blues Billy Blue logo ) will be on display. Members can place orders and provide size requirements. Times when this can be arranged will be provided nearer the date. Members who are not able to attend on Open Day, will have the opportunity to view the garments and place an order at the first Junior Blues meeting of the season, which will be before the first competitive Saturday CIS Cup game at Windsor Park.

Finally, some sad news -- 7 year old Reece Spence passed away at the beginning of June. We learnt early this year that the brave young Shankill Rd lad was very ill and he was therefore invited to be mascot for the home game with Glenavon game on 21 February.

Despite his illness, Reece and his family enjoyed the occasion and he especially enjoyed getting to meet, and have his photograph taken with, his heroes David Jeffrey and Mark Picking in the home dressing room.

Andy Conn has been in contact with Reece's family to express sincere condolances on behalf of all the Junior Blues.
